Hi world! Chris here. This week is a super special Christmas post that I planned out with my best friend! She’s a very talented, artsy person, so I thought it would be fun to get her to help me try and make a bunch of different Christmas crafts for the holiday. For this week’s post, we tackled an all time favorite: Christmas Cookies!
As someone that’s on Pinterest A LOT, I always see all these awesome looking foods that I wonder if I’ll ever be able to recreate. Well, I got my answer last week. I’m not going to share what it is, but I’ll let the pictures I took speak for themselves and then you can decide.
Because of that, I probably won’t be writing much for this post. It’s going to be very picture driven instead. Unfortunately, due to the poor kitchen lighting and poor looking subjects, they aren’t very good pictures either. I just hope they’re funny.
Except Mick’s cookies. They should be easy to pick out because they actually turned out nice (actually most of them were too close to the original to be considered a fail so they might not be pictured). Mine. . . well, you’ll see what they look like in the following picture montage.

Clearly I have a bright future as a baker if the whole writing thing doesn’t turn out! Maybe not based on looks, but taste wise I think I nailed it (a link to the recipe will be provided at the bottom of the post). If Mick is hired as the decorator, I think we’d stand a fighting chance. I’ll show you the bonus round of cupcakes just to prove it!

My tree is clearly the bottom tree. It’s trying its best, but it’s a little stunted. Either way, it still tasted great (this recipe will be added too), and it was fun to make. Actually, both the cookies and the cupcakes were fun to make. Despite the mess they made of the kitchen.

And how Mick showed me up with every cookie.

I would still recommend this kind of activity to anyone. Even if you’re not a good artist, it’s still worth trying. As long as you’re wearing festive aprons and drinking sparkling cider, you’re doing it right.

As usual, any picture that wasn’t mine (AKA: the expectation pictures) are linked to the original website so you can find out how you’re supposed to make them. The sugar cookie recipe is linked here, and the cupcake recipe is linked here. Let me know if you try any of your own holiday cooking. I’d love to see other fails and other successes!
Next week, this mini series continues with Mick back again as my faithful guide helping me make Christmas decorations! I am NOT crafty, so we’ll see how this goes.
Until then, stay sweet out there!
