Crooked Tail Cat Cafe

Hi world! Chris here. This week, I wanna take a moment to talk about the time I fell in love . . . with these cuties right here.

These little guys are all residents of a brand-new coffee shop in downtown Winston-Salem, NC, called the Crooked Tail Cat Cafe. It has a very basic goal to sell coffee and save cats. And it’s my new obsession.

As a proclaimed cat person, I was super eager to help adopt one of the Winston-Salem cats, but I knew my parents have enough to deal with looking after my current cat while I’m at college. She’s also not the most generous of animals. She did not appreciate it when I came home smelling like a bunch of other cats.

It made her very skeptical of the bag I brought.

Of course, I can’t really blame her for being jealous. I WAS cuddling up with other cats.

I also made my best friend come and take part. She’s not a huge cat person, but even she had fun here. I think that really speaks to how nice the cafe is.

It’s clearly not a place that someone just wanders into to sit, but it has its own perks anyways. The ambiance and happy air make it a great place for family and friends. One girl was even there with her sketchbook so clearly it also has a sense of hipster charm.

The staff also contributes to the friendly atmosphere. We had a reservation at noon, but ended up arriving almost thirty minutes late and they were completely fine with it. They were so understanding they just moved back our time.

Of course, even though the people are an important part of the cafe, the best part is still the cats themselves.

Each of these sweeties is a rescue cat that is up for adoption on the Triad Independent Cat’s website. Click here to check it out! The cafe brings them in to give them a greater chance of being adopted as they form relationships with the customers that come in.

In a really cool way, these relationships aren’t just saving the cats that are involved, but also help the people too. It’s been scientifically proven that just being around a cat can release oxytocin in the brain which is important for humans to be able to form bonds and have social interactions. As a bonus, listening to cats purr is proven to reduce stress.

And after watching these goofy guys play with each other, none of that is surprising.

To top it all off, the decoration of the cafe itself is ADORABLE. It’s all cat themed and just makes you want to cuddle.

Unfortunately, the pictures I took ended up a little blurry because I was using a new lens clip that I had no idea how to use yet. Apologies for my ignorance.

I guess that means you’ll just have to go check out the cafe for yourself to see it all. You can set up a reservation by clicking on the link here! They also accept walk-ins if that’s more your style. Or if you just want to get coffee, you can stop by for free.

We had a reservation, but we also tried the cafe drinks. Mick chose a new soda, and I got the Tuxedo Latte, which is named after one of the cats at the Greensboro, NC location. (It was SO GOOD. Highly recommend.)

I also purchased a sticker because I wanted to make my donation to the cause.

By then our reservation was basically over, so we had to head out. But we couldn’t leave without taking one more picture.

Next week’s post might be a little late because I’m spending the weekend in the mountains without any wi-fi again. Whenever it does come it’s going to be all about being outside though. Get ready for a good hiking post.

Until then, stay safe y’all!

P.S. The Crooked Tail Cat Cafe is not sponsoring this post or paying for it in any way. This is just my honest opinion. Also, I do not claim the first gallery of photos. I borrowed those from the Crooked Tail Cat Cafe Instagram because, let’s face it, they are much better than the ones I tried to get at the cafe. If you wanna check out some more of their awesome pictures, you can look them up here!

P.P.S. New YouTube video is up about the cafe! Check it out here!
