Looking Up Locations

Hi world! Chris here. This week’s post is gonna go a little differently than usual. I had a plan for this week’s topic, but the date got pushed back so now it’s the topic for next week! For this post, I decided to take a look into what lies ahead.

Recently, I’ve been having to take some time to think about my own future and that’s made me think about the future of my blog. I’d like to continue growing it and making it something fun for me to use to express myself. Sometimes school drains the fun out of writing because it’s all graded and strict, but this lets me do some writing that’s purely for my enjoyment. For me, that’s something I need.

I’d like to start keeping a consistent publishing date, and, with work and classes, I’m thinking Monday will be my official post day for each week. It gives me the week to work on school and the weekend to write and edit.

For this Monday, we’re gonna look at the top 10 places I want to visit. It’s kind of like a Travel Bucket List, except . . . there’s no real difference. It’s a Travel Bucket List.

So, check out some future posts that will be coming one day. Eventually.

My Dream Destinations

  • DisneyWorld

This is one that might actually be coming up in the near future. My parents are working on taking this trip with me because I have no memory of the family trip they originally took to Disney. My siblings were all old enough to enjoy it, but I was like 3 years old, so I actually didn’t even know we went except for pictures. Part of the cons of being the youngest kid.

  • Belfast, Ireland

This is another choice that might be coming up soon depending on school. Belfast, Ireland is the home of the author C.S. Lewis and as part of my major, I have the opportunity to go abroad and study him and his books in Ireland. Fingers crossed everything works out so I can get a picture in front of his statue in the town square.

  • Supernatural Road Trip

Something that was probably obvious from my First Flight post is that I am a HUGE Supernatural fan. I love the dynamics between Sam and Dean and Jensen Ackles is also my favorite celebrity crush so yeah. Plus, the legends and folklore they use are absolutely fascinating.

Because this is something I share with my older brother, I’d actually really love to take this road trip with him. (He also just got a REALLY NICE truck so I figured he could drive.) I figured it would be a fun thing to do after he gets back from his deployment and after my graduation. It could be our farewell before we both move out of the house.

  • Jane Austen Filming Locations

If the C.S. Lewis thing didn’t give away the fact that I’m a nerd, this will. I would love to go see the filming locations for the movie adaptions of Jane Austen’s novels. I just think everything in them is so beautiful and they are some of my favorite books. Getting the chance to walk into them would be a dream come true.

  • Thailand Lantern Festival

I blame Tangled for this dream. Ever sense I saw Rapunzel and Eugene falling in love amongst all those floating lanterns, I have wanted to go to a lantern festival. The specific one in my mind is the festival in Thailand because it seems to be the most similar to the fantasy in my head.

  • Alnwick Castle, Northumberland, England

My geekiness continues to show as I would looooove to go see the castle used to portray Hogwarts for some of the outside shots in the Harry Potter movies. Apparently the tour also includes seeing the field where they played quidditch which is awesome.

Random side note: RAVENCLAW IS THE BEST HOUSE. That is all.

  • Matamata, New Zealand

I’m pretty sure this is a lifetime goal I share with some of my siblings as well. Matamata is the filming location for The Shire in The Hobbit movies. Personally, I’m a bigger fan of Lord of the Rings rather than The Hobbit, but this would be an amazing place to visit. The Lord of the Rings is by far one of my favorite series so this would be a dream come true to see.

It’s also the inspiration behind my blog name! The book that Bilbo writes is called “There and Back Again, A Hobbit’s Tale by Bilbo Baggins.” I decided to turn that into Here, There, and Back Again so that I could incorporate traveling and nerdiness because that’s what this blog is all about.

  • Sequoia National Park, California

I LOVE TREES. They are so beautiful and big, and I love them. I have always wanted to see the massive sequoias at their national park for as long as I can remember. Hiking through them must be completely surreal. This is absolutely something I have to do before I die.

  • New York City

This trip definitley appeals to my vanity. I’m not sure why, but it has always been a goal of mine to just be able to blow an entire paycheck shopping in New York City. I have been to New York state because my family took a vacation to Niagara Falls, but I’ve never been in the city. I’m sure it would be completely overwhelming and terrifying, but I also feel like I would love it.

  • Isle of Man

I would like to go to the Isle of Man for a very specific reason. This self-governing island is actually where my family comes from. Way far back on my mother’s side, someone decided to leave the Isle of Man and come to America and that resulted in me. Now, I want to go back to that place and see what makes up my history.

Plus, all the pictures look really beautiful.

Some of these places I will hopefully get to see within the next couple of years. Unfortunately, some of them might take a little longer. But, soon or not, I am bound and determined to see them eventually. Hit that follow button and you’ll get to see them too!

Sorry for the shorter post. Sometimes life happens though. I promise next week will be filled with a whole lot of cuteness.

Until then, stay safe out there!
